Latest Construction Technology Funding Rounds – 06th April 2026 – Contech Funding
Nine ConTech startups raised capital last week, spanning AI pre-construction, solar robotics, green materials, and autonomous site monitoring. Trimble also closed its acquisition of Document Crunch. Here’s where the money went, who’s new on the scene, and what it signals for the rest of 2026.
Another week, another batch of checks written into construction technology. Some of these are familiar names raising follow-on rounds. Others are brand new entrants you haven’t heard of yet. And one acquisition that’s been on the cards finally crossed the finish line.
Nine startups pulled in funding across AI, robotics, green materials, surveying, inspections, and construction management. The deals ranged from a $250k angel check for a residential CRM in Florida to a $14.5m Pre-B round for a Chinese solar robotics company. Collectively, they tell a consistent story: capital is still flowing into ConTech, but it’s chasing very specific problems, not broad platform plays.
We also sat down with Neuron Factory on the podcast this week. More on them below.
Where the Money Went
AI and autonomy are still pulling the biggest checks
The week’s largest raise came from Leapting, a Chinese robotics startup that pulled in roughly $14.5m in Pre-B funding. They build intelligent robots for photovoltaic installations, including a module mounting robot that can install a solar panel every 30 seconds. With solar being one of the fastest-growing energy generation types in the US and the industry projected to be short 475,000 workers by 2033, that kind of speed matters. The labor gap in solar is driven by the same forces construction executives know well: remote locations, extreme heat, physically punishing work. Robotics fit here because the tasks are highly standardized and repetitive at massive scale.
Nomadic, a San Francisco startup, raised $8.4m to build a visual data engine for robotics and autonomous vehicles. They turn site footage into structured, searchable datasets using vision language models. Construction is listed as a primary use case, with features like automated safety monitoring (flagging unsafe behaviors and proximity violations) and temporal event segmentation that indexes machine cycles and workflow bottlenecks from continuous footage. If you’re running multiple sites and drowning in camera feeds nobody watches, that’s the pitch.

Nine startups that raised capital this week
| Company | HQ | Category | Raised | What they do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leapting | China | Robotics | ~$14.5m (Pre-B) | Intelligent robots for solar panel installation, cleaning, and inspection |
| Nomadic | San Francisco | Autonomy | $8.4m | Visual data engine turning site footage into searchable safety and productivity datasets |
| Neuron Factory | California | AI | Undisclosed | Knowledge graph for pre-construction data – tenders, BOQs, AI coworkers |
| Kaliun | Florida | Construction Management | $250k | AI-driven residential construction CRM with project management, invoicing, and expense tracking |
| ContractorHub | Nashville | Business Management | Undisclosed | Operating platform for home services businesses, starting with roofing |
| Vuabl | Scotland | Surveying | £222k | Smartphone LIDAR-based property scanning for floor plans, 3D models, and asset lists |
| Vateris | UK | Green Materials | Undisclosed (Holcim-backed) | Converts industrial CO2 into mineral additive for cement and concrete |
| Enkei | Sweden | Green Materials | Pre-Seed | Turns construction and ceramic waste into architectural surfaces (90%+ recovered waste) |
| Deeplify | Germany | Inspections | EUR 2m (Pre-Seed) | Automated defect categorization for NDT inspections across infrastructure |
A few of these are worth digging into.
ContractorHub is bundling workforce management, job tracking, fleet management, and performance analytics for residential trade contractors. That’s a segment wildly underserved by existing software, so there’s a clear gap here.
Vuabl uses the LIDAR sensors already built into smartphones so residential surveyors can generate EPC-ready floor plans, CAD-ready 3D models, and asset lists with dimensions. No expensive hardware, just the phone in your pocket. Small raise, but the approach is sharp.
Vateris picked up investment from Holcim (among others) for their carbon-to-materials platform. They convert industrial flue gas CO2 into a mineral additive for cement and concrete. When the world’s largest cement company is writing checks, that’s a signal worth paying attention to.
Deeplify raised EUR 2m for an inspection platform that automates defect categorization across non-destructive testing methods, covering wall thickness measurement, weld assessment, and automated report generation. They’re targeting energy, oil and gas, and transportation infrastructure.
Neuron Factory: The AI Pre-Con Play
Knowledge graphs, not chatbots
Neuron Factory, a California-based startup, received a strategic investment this week. They’re building a knowledge graph for pre-construction data that ingests emails, PDFs, photos, and design files to support tender understanding, bill of quantities generation, and AI coworkers that can complete work.
What’s interesting is how their messaging has shifted. When they raised in June 2025, the pitch was centered on “AI CoWorkers” powered by a proprietary enterprise task graph. Now, the knowledge graph framing has taken the lead. That pivot reflects something real: the industry is starting to understand what knowledge graphs actually do (structured representations of entities and relationships that ground AI outputs and reduce hallucinations), and the term carries more weight than it did a year ago.
We sat down with the Neuron Factory team on the podcast this week. You can watch the full conversation here.
Trimble Acquires Document Crunch
Contract intelligence joins the TC1 ecosystem
The biggest deal of the week wasn’t a funding round. Trimble acquired Document Crunch, the Atlanta-based AI contract intelligence platform. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, and the deal isn’t expected to materially impact Trimble’s 2026 guidance.
Document Crunch’s platform catches invoice payment term mismatches, flags contract and compliance risks before they escalate, and generates project playbooks. Trimble is positioning the technology as a foundational layer for its Construction One (TC1) suite, not a bolt-on feature. The idea is that contract obligations and compliance flags surface inside the tools teams already use for project management and financial ops.
We covered this acquisition in detail earlier this week. Read the full breakdown here. For background on Document Crunch’s growth story, our conversation with their VP of Marketing, Lori Peters, is worth revisiting. You can also watch our full video on the deal here.
A separate acquisition also closed last week: Xcalibur Smart Mapping (Spain) acquired EMerald Geomodelling, a Norwegian startup that generates 3D geological models for large infrastructure projects. Xcalibur operates the world’s largest airborne geophysics fleet, so this adds a software layer to their existing data acquisition capabilities.
What This Week Tells Us
Three patterns worth tracking
First, green materials are quietly attracting serious backers. Holcim investing in Vateris isn’t a vanity play. Cement producers know carbon regulation is tightening and they need scalable answers. If you’re a contractor watching embodied carbon requirements creep into tender requirements, these are the companies building what you’ll eventually be specifying.
Second, the “AI for construction” category is getting more specific. We’re past the phase where a startup could raise on “we’re applying AI to construction.” Neuron Factory is going after pre-construction knowledge graphs. Nomadic is processing autonomous vehicle footage for site safety. Deeplify is automating NDT defect categorization. The pitches are narrow and technical, which is healthy.
Third, the platform vendors are buying, not building. Trimble’s Document Crunch acquisition follows the same logic as other recent moves: it’s faster and more credible to acquire a company that’s already earned contractor trust than to build the capability from scratch. Expect more of this through 2026, especially from the major suite players racing to add AI layers to their ecosystems. We covered exactly this dynamic in our recent episode, “We Need a Moonshot” – Why AI in Construction Is Focused on the Wrong Problem.

Nine startups raised capital across AI, robotics, green materials, surveying, inspections, and construction management. The largest single round was Leapting’s ~$14.5m Pre-B for solar installation robotics. Total disclosed funding exceeded $25m, though several deals (including Neuron Factory and ContractorHub) did not disclose exact amounts. (Source)
Financial terms were not disclosed. Document Crunch will be reported as part of Trimble’s AECO segment and the acquisition is not expected to materially impact Trimble’s 2026 financial guidance. The deal is expected to close in Q2 2026. (Source)
A knowledge graph is a structured representation of entities and the relationships between them. In pre-construction, it connects data from emails, PDFs, design files, and photos into a single context layer. This helps AI systems reason more accurately across tender documents and reduces hallucinations by anchoring outputs to known relationships rather than generating answers from scratch. (Source)
Solar is one of the fastest-growing energy generation types in the US, but the industry is projected to be short 475,000 workers by 2033. The work conditions (remote sites, extreme heat, physically demanding tasks) make recruitment difficult, and the tasks themselves (hauling, layout, panel installation) are highly standardized and repetitive, which makes them strong candidates for robotic automation.
