Report Download Terms & Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Bricks & Bytes Ltd ("we", "us", "Bricks & Bytes") collects, uses, and shares your personal data when you register to download a research report through our website. It supplements our general Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
When you complete the report download form, we collect the following information:
- First name and last name
- Work email address
- Company name
- Job title / role
- Company size (employee count range)
- Country
We may also collect technical data automatically, including IP address, browser type, and the date and time of your download.
We use the data you provide for the following purposes:
- Delivering the report to your email address.
- Sending you related content from Bricks & Bytes, including newsletters, event invitations, and future research, where you have consented to receive these communications.
- Sharing your data with report sponsors and selected technology partners (see Section 3 below).
- Internal analytics, including understanding the profile of our audience and improving our content and products.
This is the important part. By downloading a sponsored research report and ticking the consent box, you agree that we may share the personal data listed in Section 1 with the companies that sponsor or are profiled in that report ("Report Partners"). These are typically construction technology companies whose products or services are relevant to the report's subject matter.
When we share your data with Report Partners:
- Report Partners may use your data to contact you directly about their products, services, events, or content. This may include email, phone, or LinkedIn outreach.
- Report Partners receive your data as independent data controllers. Once shared, their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours.
- We share only the data fields listed in Section 1. We do not share browsing history, financial information, or data from other Bricks & Bytes interactions unless you separately consent.
- We will identify Report Partners by name either on the report download page, within the report itself, or upon request. You may contact us at the address below to ask which companies received your data for any specific report.
We may also share your data with service providers who process it on our behalf (for example, our email platform, CRM, or analytics tools). These processors act only on our instructions and are bound by data processing agreements.
We process your data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR and, where applicable, EU GDPR:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): Your explicit consent, given by ticking the checkbox on the download form, is the legal basis for sharing your data with Report Partners and for sending you marketing communications from Bricks & Bytes.
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b)): Processing necessary to deliver the report you requested.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): Internal analytics and audience profiling, where we have assessed that our interests do not override your rights.
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:
- Withdraw consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. To withdraw consent for data sharing with Report Partners, email us at the address below. Note that withdrawal does not oblige Report Partners to delete data already received; you will need to contact them directly under their own privacy policy.
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erase your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Port your data to another controller in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority.
We retain your report download data for up to 24 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted or anonymised unless you have an ongoing relationship with us (for example, an active newsletter subscription). Report Partners set their own retention periods under their own policies.
Your data may be transferred to Report Partners or service providers located outside the UK or EEA. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK ICO or European Commission, or transfers to countries with an adequacy decision.
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with applicable consumer privacy legislation (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others), you may have additional rights under those laws, including the right to know what personal data is sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising and the right to opt out of such sharing.
Our provision of your data to Report Partners as described in Section 3 may constitute a "sale" or "share" under certain state laws. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will not retroactively reduce your rights without obtaining fresh consent.
